WNIT Invites Four SEC Teams

The Mississippi State women's basketball squad was granted an automatic bid into this year's tournament. In addition, the following SEC schools received at large berths: Auburn, Kentucky and South Carolina.
FACT: This is the first time in WNIT history that the field includes 48 teams. Automatic bids go to 31 teams from their conferences. The highest-finishing team in the conference's regular-season standings that does not advance to the NCAA Tournament, receives the automatic bid. The remaining 17 selections are on an at-large basis. The WNIT is a single-elimination format and are played at the home facilities of participating schools.

First Round - Thursday, March 15, 2007
- Kentucky vs. Oakland
- Mississippi - Bye
- Auburn - Bye
- South Carolina - Bye
Second Round - Sunday, March 18
- Auburn vs. UAB
- Mississippi State vs. Tulane
- South Carolina vs. Hartford
