Drake v. Tennessee Preview

The SEC regular season champs and #1 seed UT Lady Vols kick off their pursuit of a seventh NCAA championship on Sun. Mar. 18, 2007 when they take on #16 seed Drake. The game will be played at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA and is slated for a 7 p.m. EST start (game time approximate) and is scheduled to be aired on ESPN2.

The winner will face either #8 seed Pittsburgh or #9 seed James Madison.

Facts about Drake:
  • Drake is located in Des Moines, IA
  • This is Drake’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2002. Their overall tournament record is 6-9, in 9 appearances.
  • Drake is one of only 2 teams in the 2007 NCAAs to enter the tournament with a losing record (14-18).
  • Drake received an automatic bid by winning the Missouri Valley Conference tournament, where they entered the tournament as the #8 seed and a 10-18 record and won 4 games in 4 days to win the tournament championship.
