Nell Fortner Presented with Lifetime Achievement Award

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Auburn women’s basketball head coach Nell Fortner will be presented with the New Braunfels Unicorn Lifetime Achievement Award Thursday night for her continued success since her time at New Braunfels High School in Texas.

“I am so honored to receive this award from my high school,” Fortner said. “I never thought that I could be worthy of a lifetime achievement award when I feel like I have so much more to accomplish. I would like to thank them for believing that my achievements to date are worthy of this prestigious honor.”

Fortner was a multi-sport athlete at the school including basketball, volleyball, track, tennis and cheerleading. In high school, Fortner earned all-state honors in basketball and volleyball and was named a Parade All-American in basketball, coached by Freden Burg.   Read More.


Auburn Adds Junior College Transfer To 2005 Signee List

AUBURN -- Panola Junior College transfer Joanna Clayden has signed with the Auburn women’s basketball team for the 2005-06 season as announced Tuesday by head coach Nell Fortner.
 
“With Louise Emeagi not returning next season, we needed an experienced perimeter player on the wing,” Fortner said. “We have great perimeter players coming in with our freshman class, but Joanna offers a strong work ethic and already developed leadership skills, which was very attractive to us. She has had an outstanding junior college career and brings a three-point shot along with her.”  Read More.


Auburn Signee Keshonda Carrier Invited To USA Women's Basketball

AUBURN -- Auburn women’s basketball signee Keshonda “KeKe” Carrier has been invited to participate in the USA Basketball Women’s Team Trials held May 19-22 in Colorado Springs, Colo. 
 
Sixty of the top women’s players in the country, including Carrier a 6-7 center, were invited to vie for spots on the USA U19 Championship team and World University Games team.   Read More.


Incoming Freshman Keshonda Carrier Named to USA U19 World Championship Team

AUBURN
- Auburn signee, and incoming freshman, Keshonda “KeKe” Carrier has been named to the USA U19 World Championship team as announced by the USA Basketball Women’s Collegiate Committee.
 
Carrier, a 6-7 center from Lake Charles, La., is one of just 15 finalists for the team, which will be paired down to a 12-woman roster during training camp. Carrier was awarded a waiver from the team trials earlier this month as she chose instead to attend high school graduation.  Sixty of the top women’s players in the country were initially invited to vie for spots on the USA U19 Championship team and World University Games team.  Read More.
