Davidson vs. Georgia Preview

The No. 7 Georgia Lady Bulldogs host the Wildcats of Davidson at 2:30 p.m. (EST) today in Athens.
This is the second meeting between the two teams. Georgia leads the series 1-0 with a 74-68 win in Athens just 385 days ago. In that game, former player Cori Chambers had a game-high 25 points while current Lady Bulldogs, Christy Marshall added 16 and Megan Darrah's double-double (10 points/11 boards) secured the "W". Davidson also had three double-digit scorers in that game, two of which, Daneille Hemerka (12 points) and Katie Hamilton (11 points) return to Stegeman today.
Georgia is 41-11 against the Southern Conference and 1-0 this season as they defeated the Georgia Southern Lady Eagles, 105-66 on November 13, 2007.
Last Time Out
Georiga defeated the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech a week ago at Stegeman by a score of 71-64. Tasha Humphrey, Ashley Houts and Angel Robinson each scored double figures with 21, 16 and 13 points, respectively. Humphrey's 12 rebounds (4 offensive/8 defensive) made this her fifth consecutive double-double this season.
The Wildcats come into Stegeman on a three game winning streak with a 5-2 overall record this season. In their last game they defeated East Tennessee State 79-61. Georgia native, Danielle Hemerka scored 16 points, maching her career-best three-pointers made (9-19) along with 17 assists.
Teams in Common this Season
Both teams have played Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern this season. In addition to the win over Georgia Tech, the Lady Bulldogs routed Georgia Southern 105-66 on November 13 in Athens. The Wildcats began their season against Georgia Tech losing 50-69 on November 9th and defeated Georgia Southern 62-56 at home on November 29th.
Who Wins
Georgia should be able to pull out the "W" today. The Wildcats are have a remarkably balanced scoring attack (six players averaging between 7.4 - 11.4 ppg) and should be able to keep pace with the Lady Bulldogs for a good part of the game. The key to a Georiga win will be Tasha Humphrey, who didn't play in last year's game and remains an "unknown" for the Wildcats. Finding a player or players who will be able to contain "T-Hump" will definitely be a challenge for Davidson.
