Junkanoo Jam - Georgia v. Prairie View A&M Preview

Having had ample time to digest their turkey, not to mention eight days off since their last game, the Georgia Lady Bulldogs meet up with Prairie View A&M at 8:000 p.m. tonight as part of the Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas.
There's a first time for everything ... Tonight's game will mark the first time Georiga has played off U.S. soil. It's also the first time they meet the Lady Panthers of Prairie View.
At 4-0 this season, the Lady Bulldogs top two scorers, senior Tasha Humphrey and sophomore, Ashely Houts are each averaging 15.5 points per game. As of games completed through turkey day, Humphrey is the 4 fourth leading scorer in the SEC's senior class and tied at third for most defensive rebounds in the SEC (averaging 5.5 per game). Sophomore, Ashley Houts is the second leading sophomore scorer in the SEC and fourth in three-point shooting (46.2%) overall in the SEC. Both Humphrey and Houts are expected to start as well as senoir Megan Darrah who is tied for second in three-point shooting (50%) overall in the SEC.
Prairie View enters the contest at 1-4 this season. The Lady Panthers' began their season at Baylor's BTI Classic, losing to St. Mary's (80-87) on November 9. On the second day of the tournament, they beat Howard (77-73) only to fally to Baylor the following day 61-89. In their last outing the met up with the SEC's very own Florida Gators and lost by only six points (63-69). Sophomores Candice Thomas (guard) and foward Gaati Werema are something to watch out for as they lead the Lady Panthers in scoring averging 17.2 and 15.4 points per game.
Familiar Face ... If the head coach of the Lady Panthers looks familiar to you, that's because she's no other than Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, a collegiate standout for Southern Cal in the 1980's. Long time Georgia fans may remember her from the Final Four in 1983 as the Trojans defeated the Lady Bulldogs 81-57 where Cooper scored 12 points with three assists and four steals in 32 minutes.
History Tidbit ... The Georgia Lady Bulldogs won their first SEC title in 1983, the same year they faced off against Cynthia Cooper-Dyke in the Final Four.
