BAKER, La. -- LSU's Lady Tigers basketball team continued to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina when the entire squad visited displaced New Orleans area residents at the Bethany Christian shelter on Thursday afternoon.
The team, including the coaching staff and former Lady Tiger and 2005 WNBA Rookie of the Year Temeka Johnson, offered support to the over 300 people still housed in the shelter.
"It was truly inspirational witnessing up close and personal the amazing resolve of the so many families that loss so much, but still had so much to give," LSU head coach Pokey Chatman said. "Thanks to the outreach from the Bethany community, there's hope."
The Lady Tigers also assisted with relief efforts following the storm at the Pete Maravich Center and the Carl Maddox Field House, which housed injured, sick and special needs people from the evacuated areas.
