On Monday, Nov. 12, 2007 the Southeastern Conference league office named Florida’s Brittaney Thomas as their choice for SEC Player of the Week. Thomas, a 5’8” sophomore guard, got her first career start against Xavier, and as a result, put up some career-best numbers in the Gators‘ 82-71 win over the Musketeers. Thomas shared team-high scoring honors, pouring in 17 on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, and dished a team-high 3 assists to go with 2 steals in 27 minutes of action. Thomas’ 17 points more than doubled her previous career-best 8 points. Florida’s win against Xavier avenged last season’s 86-70 loss and provided new head coach Amanda Butler her first career win at the helm of the Gators.
