Well it's finally here, what we've all been waiting for since last spring, the beginning of women's college basketball!!
The first week of SEC pre-season/exhibition games kicked off on All Hallows Eve as the Alabama Crimson Tide women hosted West Alabama. Our secound course of basketball was served up by the Vanderbilt Commodores as they set the table for the Cumberland Lady Bulldogs. And what better way to end an evening than watching the LSU Tigers take the stage for their match up with the All-Stars.
Not only did each one of these teams win their game, one even tallied a 104 points. Oh yeah, it's gonna be a great season of SEC womens basketball!
To make matters better, on Thursday, the Georgia Lady Bulldogs extended the SEC preseason winning streak as they were reunited with former player Janese Hardrick (now a member of the DT3-Atlanta team). Did I say, it's gonna be a great season of SEC womens basketball? I did and it is!!
For complete information on the first two days of exhibition games, check out the box scores and notes below.
West Alabama at Alabama Coach Quote: "It’s good to get the season started. We've gone through a lot of adversity in practice to this point just losing players to injuries. It was good to get the first game jitters out, with our eight underclassmen, four of whom playing their first collegiate basketball game. It feels good to get beyond this one." -- Alabama Head Coach Stephany Smith

All-Stars at LSU Coach Quote: "I thought we started off the game pretty good. I don’t care who you play or where you play; when you are up 25-0 you have done some pretty good things. I thought we opened up the game with some pretty good ball. We let it get a little sloppy at the end, but sometimes that is pretty hard to do. I was pleased overall. Our defense was better than I thought it was, particularly our full-court defense." -- LSU Head Coach, Van Chancellor
DT3 at Georgia Player Quote: "We had flashes where we looked really good as a basketball team, not only defensively but offensively. I thought we shot the ball well, but the thing that really sticks out in my mind is that we turned the ball over too much and gave up too many rebounds." -- senior forward Tasha Humphrey.
