DeMoss Resigning?

Rumor has it that Mickie DeMoss (Kentucky womens basketball head coach) will be resigning today, Wednesday, April 11, 2007.  According to the UK Athletics Department, DeMoss called a mandatory players meeting at 8 a.m. A news conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in what was called a "major women's basketball announcement."  The news conference will take place at Memorial Coliseum.

As of this writing there is no particular reason behind DeMoss' resignation, but we do know that it was initiated by DeMoss herself.  Susan Lax (UK spokeswoman) said she could not answer any questions until the news conference.

The rumor mill runs the gambit from her taking a position at LSU or Florida to early retirement.  DeMoss, now 51, signed a five-year deal worth $350,000 during the 2006 summer vacation and was looking forward to staying at UK.

Kentucky finished this season 20-14 overall and 6-8 in the Southeastern Conference.
