Carol Ross Selected Assistant Coach For The 2005 USA Basketball Women's U19 World Championship Team


Ross will be coaching for USA Basketball for the second time in her career.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Duke University head coach Gail Goestenkors has been selected to lead the 2005 USA Basketball Women's U19 World Championship Team, and will be assisted by Hofstra University's Felisha Legette-Jack and the University of Mississippi's Carol Ross. The coaching staff, announced by USA Basketball today, has a combined five summers of USA Basketball coaching experience.

"I'm very excited and honored to be selected," Goestenkors said. "This is a tremendous opportunity and I'm very much looking forward to heading to Africa and bring home the gold."

Formerly known as the Women's Junior World Championship Team, the USA Women's U19 World Championship Team secured its 2005 tournament berth after the 2004 USA Basketball Women's Junior World Championship Qualifying Team earned a gold medal at the FIBA Americas Women's Junior World Championship Qualifying Tournament in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. The squad finished a perfect 5-0 and outscored its opponents by a remarkable 81 ppg, while averaging 123 ppg.  Read more.
